The festival is organized by a consortium of local LGBT groups and is supported by many local organizations and private individuals.

The purpose of the festival is to:

• Offer the North Country an acccessible cultural event of the highest caliber.
• Provide an event that meets the need for LGBT culture in the North Country.
• Offer members of the North Country's mainstream culture an opportunity to learn about the issues and values of LGBT culture.

The festival organizers try to acquire films which cover a broad range of issues and are current and relevant. See a list of the festival's organizing committee.
