Tuesday, February 27 at 7:00 PM -- Winston Rm. Student Center, St. Lawrence University

Feature: Puccini for Beginners – Maria Maggenti, USA, 2005
A romantic comedy filled with razor-sharp wit and snappy dialogue, and more than enough drama to fill the pages of a classic libretto.

Triple Minority –Amber Sharp, USA 2005
A devout black preacher cannot accept his daughter’s life and love.  Will a dinner invitation and the good intentions of her mother help Clair’s father see the light?

Wednesday, February 28 at 7:00 PM -- Winston Rm. Student Center, St. Lawrence University

Feature: Eastside Story – Carlos Portugal, USA, 2006
In his debut film, director Carlos Portugal has created a colorful group of characters, with zany but believable personalities – and some very attractive physical characteristics as well. From the very beginning, this comedy will have you cheering for Diego and his entire East Side neighborhood.

Rape For Who I Am – Lovinsa Kavuma, South Africa, 2005
Rape is an all-too-common experience for black lesbians in South Africa. Women who come out are often attacked by family members, friends, and strangers in an attempt to cure them of their lesbianism. Choosing to fight rather than remain victims of these hate crimes, the four women in this short documentary share their stories to spare others pain.

Thursday, March 1 at 1:00 PM -- Wakefield Recital Hall, SUNY Potsdam

Cruel and Unusual - Janet Baus & Dan Hunt, USA, 2006
This compelling documentary profiles the experiences of five male-to-female (MTF) transsexuals who have served time at all-male penitentiaries. Unfortunately, these MTF transsexuals are hardly alone. In the US it is estimated that 30% of all transsexuals have been incarcerated, a figure three times the national average. Why is the incarceration rate for transsexuals so high?

Thursday, March 1 at 7:00 PM -- Wakefield Recital Hall, SUNY Potsdam

Time To Leave – Francois Ozon, France, 2005
A masculine melodrama that is far from routine and offers us a richer look at the meaning of life.

Hung – Guinevere Turner, 2005, USA
In this hilarious short, five lesbian friends discover a potion that allows them to grow a penis for one day. Would they use it? And if they do, how would they fill those magical 24 hours?

Peacetalk – Jennifer Malmquist, Sweden, 2005
Emelie and Jonna tap into unchartered territory as they play war games in this charming story about a first kiss and juvenile affection.

Films scheduled for Fri March 2 at SUNY Potsdam have been re-scheduled
for Wednesday March 7, 7pm, Wakefield Recital Hall, SUNY Potsdam.
The reception at First Crush in Potsdam also has been rescheduled
for Wed March 7 following the movies.

Fat Girls - Ash Christian, USA, 2006
Let’s be clear from the start: “Fat Girl” is a state of mind. It’s an unspoken feeling between people…a special club, if you like. And Rodney is the entire Executive Committee! Rodney thinks he’s fat and ugly. His father loves sports and ignores him, and his mother is a religious fanatic who gives all her cooking Christian appellations – think angel hair pasta and holy hamburgers. His guidance counselor has given up on Rodney, labeling him a student who is “going against the grain.”

Summer - Hong Khaouy, United Kingdom, 2006
An ancient proverb says that he who catches a falling leaf from this particular tree will get his wish granted. But 16-year old Leung’s dearest wish is to kiss his best friend, Will. He wonders if the gods will approve.

Thanks For Calling Baby - Zia Anger, USA, 2006
Ithaca based Zia Anger meditates on her relationship with her father and the AIDS drugs that keep him alive.

Reception following the movies on Friday, March 3, 2007, at First Crush, Potsdam, NY

Saturday, March 3 at 7:00 PM -- Kingston Theatre, SUNY Canton

Laughing Matters More – Andrea Myerson, USA, 2006
Director Andrea Meyerson continues to use her extensive experience in the world of stand-up comedy to bring us a fresh quartet of diverse lesbian comics. Capturing them onstage, in private interviews, and together on a set which resembles a lesbian version of The View, Meyerson brings us a hearty dose of comedy and a heartfelt look at the joy that each comedienne finds in her work.

Attack of the Bride Monster – Vicky Boone, USA, 2006
A campy cautionary tale about what happens when lesbians get bit by the wedding bug. Can any relationship survive?

Available Men – David Dean Bottrell, USA, 2006
An ill-timed meeting of the eyes sets off a series of missed appointments and blind dates. This clever intersection of four lives looking for very different things shows that, sometimes, the search for love is no different than a business transaction.

Sunday, March 4 at 7 PM -- Kingston Theatre, SUNY Canton

A Love To Hide – Christian Faure, France, 2005
It is springtime in Paris, 1942. The Nazis have occupied Europe and chaos and confusion rule. This is the backdrop for A Love to Hide, a sweeping and unforgettable wartime epic that has moved audiences at screenings around the globe.

Hitchcocked – David M. Young, USA, 2006
A hot Internet hookup exposes the fine line between danger and ecstasy, as reality creeps up on fantasy in this surprising “thriller.”
