Rape For Who
I Am – Lovinsa Kavuma, South Africa, 2005
Rape is an all-too-common experience for black lesbians in South Africa.
Women who come out are often attacked by family members, friends, and
strangers in an attempt to cure them of their lesbianism. Choosing
to fight rather than remain victims of these hate crimes, the four
women in this short documentary share their stories to spare others
pain.

- Janet Baus & Dan Hunt, USA, 2006
This compelling documentary profiles the experiences of five male-to-female

Unfortunately, these MTF transsexuals are hardly alone. In the US it
is estimated that 30% of all transsexuals have been incarcerated, a
figure three times the national average. Why is the incarceration rate

Let’s be clear from the start: “Fat Girl” is a state
of mind. It’s an unspoken feeling between people…a special
club, if you like. And Rodney is the entire Executive Committee! Rodney
thinks he’s fat and ugly. His father loves sports and ignores
him, and his mother is a religious fanatic who gives all her cooking
Christian appellations – think angel hair pasta and holy hamburgers.
His guidance counselor has given up on Rodney, labeling him a student
who is “going against the grain.”

each comedienne finds in her work.
